Honey Harvesting Session

Join us at one of our apiaries to extract your own jar of honey to take home!
We will put on beesuits and walk to the apiary to meet some of our honey bees.
After opening up a hive, we will gently remove  several frames of capped honey to take back to the extraction room.
You will use a serrated knife to slice off the beeswax cappings from the comb to expose the runny honey.
We will place the frames onto the manual radial extractor drum and spin the honey from the comb.
Once all of the honey has been extracted , we will pass the liquid through a coarse sieve to remove any large pieces of wax and hive debris.
Once you have a jar ready, you will turn on the drum tap, and fill your jar with the purest, freshest honey on the planet !
In addition , you will take home one of our pure beeswax candles made from the wax cappings.
Parking and toilets are available onsite .
The sessions will rely on their being excess honey in the hive for us to harvest.
Beesuits are provided  - please note they are not sting proof. If you have bad reactions to bee stings, or think you may have a serious reaction, this session is not suitable.
Details are sent out ten days before the session - but we hope you appreciate that things can change quickly as we are working with living creatures , and we are at the mercy of the weather!
